What is SSRN?

SSRN is a website which provides rapid dissemination of scholarship in a variety of social sciences, including legal scholarship.  SSRN provides a platform for scholars to post working papers, accepted papers and final versions of published articles.  Many institutions, including  our own, have research paper series which serve as their institutional responsitories for faculty scholarship.  They send out an e-journal of new scholarship several times a year to subscribed readers.

SSRN New England Law | Boston Legal Studies Research Paper Series

Launched in October, 2012, New England Law | Boston anticipates we will disseminate our legal studies research paper series two or three times a year.  We pay an annual fee to SSRN to publish this series.  The inaugural issue will be automatically distributed to our faculty and reference librarians; all others may subscribe on their own initiative at the SSRN website.  Authors may also designate a number of SSRN's Subject Matter eJournals in which to have their papers placed, as well as in our branded series.

SSRN does not take a copyright.  When you upload a paper, you give SSRN the non-exclusive right to post and electronically distribute your article.  You retain the right to remove your paper from SSRN at any time.  Any person who provides any material for inclusion on SSRN is responsible for ensuring that this material does not violate other parties' copyright.

Please contact Helen Litwack at or extension 7436 for assistance or more information about SSRN.  Helen is in the library Sunday through Thursday.  Please see the "How do I.." box below for a submission checklist.
